Welbeck
"Run" Grunyon
No one really knows how old Welbeck "Run" Grunyon is, or even where, exactly, he came from. They only know that he suddenly appeared aboard the "Half Dozen of Another" firmly convinced that he belonged there. Quickly and methodically, he worked his way from First Mate to Navigator to Pilot to Second Mate to Cabin Boy to Deckhand to Ship's Mascot. It was an eventful day.
Now, a scant four years later, he has finally settled into the life of a sailor. It is with decreasing frequency the crew is awakened with excited shouts of , "Hey guys! Come look! There's water everywhere!" And now he rarely loses in his frequent quarrels with the figurehead on the bow. The crew is just happy he is finally talking to a "woman."
Overall, Run seems to be a happy, easygoing man with a fondness for animals, and the attention span of a walnut. Should you ever find yourself at crosses with him, just give him a compliment and he'll suddenly forget why you were arguing in the first place. Or better yet, get him talking to his own reflection in a shiny surface and he'll forget you're even there. This is not to say that Run is vain. Quite the contrary, he doesn't seem to care at all about appearances. No, he just seems to communicate well with objects lacking a central nervous system. This could be why Run has very few enemies. Then again, maybe the fact that his I.Q. ranks below that of a flounder in a coma has something to do with it. Or it could be the truth is as simple as the man himself. He believes in kindness and compassion toward others. It is a somewhat unusual trait for a pirate. But then, there will never be another pirate like Run. |

Thom Barrows
Thom Barrows. Aside from the unusual spelling, is there anything special about the name? Not really. And Thom is just your average, everyday kind of a guy. He wakes up in the morning and gazes with bleary eyes, into the faces of his cats as they use his stomach for a trampoline. He showers and gets dressed just like anyone else. He works at his job to pay his bills and then he comes home and goes to bed. Boring, right? Well, let’s take a closer look.
Let’s look at that job history to start with. Hmmmmm. Computer tech. Lab Tech. Office Manager. Zookeeper. Educator……..Wait a minute! Back up. ZOOKEEPER???? Yes, Thom spent four and half years caring for everything from apes to zebras at a nationally ranked American zoo. What else has he done? Well, he spent time as a Wine Consultant and also worked on the printing press for a newspaper after he left his position as a costumed entertainer for a major entertainment theme park.
Maybe we better take a look at some of those hobbies he never mentions. Obviously he fights with swords and stag, but what else? For starters, he enjoys performing. Especially comedy. He also sings with a Victorian Caroling Choir, and has been known in the past to appear on stage in community theatre productions.
When he is not performing, he enjoys curling up with a good book. Or watching TV. Or playing on the computer. See, I told you there wasn’t anything special about him. |
